Rep. Vincent Buys lead Republican on House Government Operations and Elections Committee

Rep. Vincent Buys, R- Lynden, was recently chosen as ranking Republican on the House Government Operations and Elections Committee. Buys, who will be in his second term with the state House of Representatives, said he is honored by the opportunity.
βTo have a voice for the way state government operates is a privilege. And, laws that impact state agency rulemaking are especially important to me. The time I've spent on the State Building Code Council has given me first-hand insight into ways we can make agency rulemaking better for businesses and their customers, citizens and families of Washington state,β Buys said.
Buys' assignment to the committee comes after state legislative leadership reorganized several committees in November. A position on the Government Operations and Elections Committee is just one of Buys' new assignments. He will also serve on Appropriations, Local Government, and continue as a key member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
βI'm thrilled to continue on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. This is a crucial area for my district. I believe we must stop the bureaucracy that prevents farmers from succeeding and we can bring new ideas to the table this year,β Buys said.
The 2013 session starts Jan. 14. Buys can be reached by calling his Olympia office at (360) 786-7854 or via email at Vincent.Buys@leg.wa.gov.
